The Tenspeed Hero Auxiliary Club: The City We Live In and Places We Have Been

The Tenspeed Hero Auxiliary Club is proud to present our first post. First, it was founded just two hours ago. Second, Its first two members are Stephen Auxiliary Hero and Luke Auxiliary Hero. Third, Members ride their bikes very slow so they miss nothing, have no computers on board to measure said speed, prefer Rose wine in the summer, and call their girlfriends when their late or hurry home. The things they look for generally concern the idiosyncrasies of the built environment and not just famous buildings and the like. The photo above is wonderful example. This unique stair case is notable due to its narrow stairway and asymmetry to its companion building. We think its marvelous. Stephen wondered if the owners ever come down the stairs at the same time.

This little house caught our eye as well. Look how small it is. Is it not magnificent that some evil developer has not torn it down. We want to know who lives there. It can be found in Old Town.

This house was across the street. Auxiliary Hero members love Ivy on old buildings. We know it eats in the mortar but it puts Mayor Daley's Green roofs to shame. And its practically free.
The last thing you should know about Tenspeed Hero Auxiliary Club members is that they are always wondering what the city looked like 100 years ago. Luke and Stephen noticed this nice bit of cobble in the west loop near the historic Fulton Market. Imagine a time near 1880 when people all over the world were walking these streets, riding their Penny Farthings to the sound of horses and bellows of butchers and haberdashers.
